summary

Seventy-seven patients with non-seminoma testicular tumours were given com­bined treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. The patients were divided into two groups depending on the therapeutic method. In the first group of 38 cases treatment was given by the method of Einhorn (cisplatin, vin-blasttoie, bleomycin), to the second group the method of Samuels and Mathe was used (v!in,blastine, bleomycin, or vincristine and cyclophosphamide). The duration of follow-up was from 26 to 38 months.
The analysis of the results showed that in the group in good general condi­tion a higher proportion of remissions (88.0%) was obtained using more aggressive chemiotherapy of Einhorn than in those treated by the method of Samuels and Mathe (59.0%).
In the emaciated patients with Considerable weight loss the proportion of re­missions was similar, independently of the chemotherapeutic schedule (18.0% and 11.0% respectively) but the percent of complications was lower after treatment by the method of Samuels and Mathe after that of Einhorn.
