THE VALUE OF INTERNAL DRAINAGE OF UPPER URINARY TRACT

- The authors presented the evaluation of internal drainage by means of doubly angulated self-supporting catheters ?double J". This kind of drainage of upper urinary tract was used in 54 patients (35 women, 15 men, 4 children) to model 57 ureters. The catheters were inserted into the ureter endoscopically during cystoscopy or nephroscopy or by means of surgery. It was found that self-retaining doubly angulated catheters ensure a free urine flow from the kidney to the urinary bladder eliminating the need of external drainage of upper urinary tract; besides, they are well tolerated by patients.
