THE USEFULNESS OF INTERNAL URETHROTOMY IN PREVENTION OF URETHRAL STRUCTURES AFTER ELECTRORESECTION OF PROSTATIC ADENOMA

summary

The aim of the study was to answer the question whether internal urethroto­my has an effect on diminution of the percent proportion of later urethral stric-tures after electroresection of prostatic adenoma. The patients were divided into two groups. In the first group of 68 patients internal urethrotomy was done immediately before electroresection, in the second Control group of 70 patients this procedure was abandoned. The follow up was from 3 to 13 months in both groups. In the first group stricture developed in 2 cases, in the second group in 3 cases. The size of the adenoma and urinary infection before and after the operation had no significant effect on the development of urethral stricture after electroresection.
