summary
- The concentration of four tracę metals, i.e., zinc, cadmium, copper and iron were
- determined in undiseased prostate samples using atomie absorbtion spectrophotometry. Also,
- mean levels of the above elernents were evaluated in prostate cancer and hypertophy. High
- concentration of these tracę elernents was found in prostates tissue. The results obtained show
- significant differences in zinc and cadmium levels between physiological and pathological
- prostates. However, there were no statistically significant differences in copper and iron
- concentrations either in sickness unaffected prostate, cancer or prostate hyperthrophy. This may
- suggest that zinc and cadmium play a contributory role in prostate cancer.
