The paper presents the rules of evaluation of BPH operative treatment results'
recomended by International Consultatian on Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
patronized by WHO Prospective evaluation of 103 patients with BPH treated opera-
tively (by open or transurethral adenomectomy) in our department in one year was
performed according to these recomendations. The analysis was based upon evalua-
tion of the following parameters: International Prostate Symptom Score (I-PSS),
Quality of Life Index (QOL), peakuroflow (Qmax), prostate size (V) and, additio-
nally, postvoid residual urine ? pre and 3 months postoperatively. Groups with and
without complete urine retention were compared as well as results of open and trans-
urethral adenomectomies.
