summary

The results of transuretheral microvawe hyperthermia in 116 BPH patients are
presented. Better toleration was seen in patients treated with 16 Ch than 22 Ch
radiators, nevertheless longer treatment time (5 x lh vs 6 x 0,5h). No severe compli-
cations were observed except of one case of blood transfusion re±uired due to hema-
turia after treatment with 22Ch diameter radiator. Higher response rate was obse-
rved in patients with urine retention treated 5 x lh (83%) than 6 x 0,5h (0%). No
significant differences in treatment outcome were seen in patients without catheter in
the two groups (5x1 and 6 x 0,5h). No improvement was detected in patients with
medial lobe enlargement.
