summary

aim of the study
Presenting own experience in reroperitoneoscopy using three trocars.
material and methods
From August 1996 to May 2004 we performed 512 laparoscopies, 78,1 and 21,9 percent by transperitoneal and retroperitoneal access, respectively. Clinical parameters of the interventions were analyzed - duration, blood loss, number of trocars and postoperative hospitalization period. Among 112 operations were 31 simple nephrectomies, 2 radical nephrectomies, 45 excision of renal cysts, 14 ureterolitotomies, 15 reconstructions of ureteropelvic junction and 3 nephropexies.
results
Conversion to open method was necessary in 5 patients (4,5 percent). Average operation time of all retroperitoneoscopies was 76 minutes, and average blood loss amounted to 70 ml. The medium hospitalization period was equal to 3,9 days. In 105 interventions (93,8 percent) three trocars were used.
conclusions
Retroperitoneoscopy using three ports gives minimally invasive access to the upper urinary tract, reduces duration of the procedure, produces negligible blood loss and shortens hospitalization period.
