prostate epitestosterone

summary

The paper presents epitestosterone which has been believed as a metabolite without
any hormonal activity. Recent studies showed that a complex action of epitestosterone
consists of competitive binding to androgen receptor, of inhibition of testosterone bio-
synthesis and its reduction to dihydrotestosterone and of antigonadotropic activity.
Authors conclude that epitestosterone is effective as an antiandrogen and can contri-
bute to the regulation of androgen dependent organs especially prostate.
