- The investigations were performed in 25 inbred rats. The morphological appearance
- of the endothelium of seminiferous tubules after unilateral and bilateral denervation
- was investigated. The animals were divided into three groups. The first comprised
- control, the second was subjected to unilateral, and the third to bilateral denervation.
- The denervation was achieved by excision of the branches of testicular plexus at the
- distance of about 5 mm along the testicular arteries as well as cutting of the ilioinguinalis
- and geniotofemoralis nerves. After 30 days the animals were sacrificed by decapitation
- and the testes were stained with haematoxylin-eosin according to Mallory, McManus
- Hotchkiss, Feulgen and Einarson.
- We demonstrated that after removal of the sympathetic innervation supplying this
- gland, the degenerative changes in the seminiferous tubules were taking place. Hyperplasia
- of the germinal epithelium cells was observed and the changes were more prominent
- when bilateral denervation was done.
