prostate adenoma treatment thermotherapy ? histology

summary

Objective. Thermotherapy (Radiofrequency-TURF or Microwave-TUMT) is one of
the minimally invasive instrumental procedures for treatment of patients with benign
prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Material and method. The purpose of the study was to evaluate prostatic histological
lesions of patients submitted to the open prostatectomy or TURP after TURF.
Histology of 15 surgical specimens revealed heavy inflamatory cellular reaction
different from typical bacterial Prostatitis.
Conclusion. There were no significant difficulty in the surgical procedures (open
prostatectomy or TURP) of patients who underwent TURF in Comparison with these
who did not.
