Since 1990, in the Department of Urology Karol Marcinkowski University
School of Medical Science the ESWL procedure in the treatment of urolithiasis
was been performed about 1000 patients by year, using Dornier MPL-9000
e±uipment. The patients qualification was based on the data (called attributes)
coming from the history of illness, laboratory X-ray and ultrasound
investigations. From the period of 1993-1995 we selected randomly a group of
500 patiens which data were analysed according to the Rough set theory. The
aim of this study was to determine an essential attributes which would describe
the patients suffering from urolithiasis and which could interfere an indications
to this procedure and the final result of treatment. The result achived from our
experience in urolithiasis treatment and their verification using the Rough set
theory can be used further to create the data base for Computerized decision
support system. When examine a new patient this system would take into
consideration the most important attributes from the point of view of their
closer cause-effect dependence with the final result of ESWL treatment.
