Objective. The aim of this research was to establish the influence of BPH on
the personality of the sick.
Material and Method. 50 men aged 53-77, prepared for the operation at the
Urological Ward were examined. Two ±uestionaires were used; MPI by HJ.
Eysenck and the self - knowledge test by R.B. Cattell.
Results. In 72% patients significant, neurotive emotional disorders were
discovered - particularly a very high level of ergic tension resulting from the
frustration of needs and urges and Strong feeling of guilt and depressional
disbelief in themselves. 72% of the sick showed unadaptable strategies of
coping with difficult situations.The strengthened neurotic structural changes
in personality have been observed in 54% of the examined patients.
