summary
- The aim of the study. The aim of this study is to estimate a value of aspirative biopsy (BAC) and core biopsy (BR) as the methods of
- preoperative diagnosis of kidney tumors. Material and method. Kidney tumors removed from 40 patient were estimated. After removal of the kidney or kidney tumor, fine-needle
- aspirative biopsy (4 specimens) and core biopsy by tru-cut needle (4 specimens) of the neoplastic tissue was done. BAC specimens were
- examined cytologically, and core biopsy specimens were examined pathologically. The results were compared witli these of standard
- microscopic examination of tumors. Results. Pathological examination showed: 26 clear cells tumors, 4 mixed tumors. 1 granular cells tumors, 3 tumors in the kidney cyst, 2
- papillary tumors, 2 angiomyolipomas. 1 oncocytoma, and 1 multilocular cyst. The results of cytologic and pathologic examinations of
- the biopsy specimens were positive ;md compliant with standard microscopic examination in 2 3 patients (5 7.5%) and 3 6 patients (90%).
- respectively. Conclusions. The fine-needle aspirative biopsy cannot be identified as a trustworthy method due to its poor sensitivity. However, high
- sensitivity of core needle biopsy causes, that it may be useful in some patients, in whom knowledge of tumor patomorphology before
- surgery can influence on the type of operation.
