summary
- Thirty-eight patients with superficial bladder cancer (Ta, Tl, Tis) after transurethral electroresection of the tumour were divided at random into two groups. Group 1 (21 patients) received three times at 4-week intervals intravenously cyclophosphamide 1.5 g/m2. Group 2 (17 patients) received one ampoule of BCG vaccine, Berna strain, intravesically in 50 ml of normal saline obce weekly for six weeks.
- A Comparison of the therapeutic results demonstrated a high effectiveness of BCG — 58.3% of the patients without recurrence, as compared with a less evident usefulness of cyclophospmaide — 35.0°/o without recurrence.
