summary

A trial was undertaken of morphological and functional assessment of the kidneys in patients subjected to extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. The obtained results showed that ultrasonography was useful for the assessment of morphological changes of renal cortex. These chasges were found in 60.0% of the patients. During urography a delay was noted in contrast secretion in over 70.0% of the cases. Moreover, in 27 cases (54.0%) gross haematuria was noted within 24 hours after the procedure.
