summary

Presented here are the results of combined surgical and chemical treatment of 74 patients with non-seminomatous tumour of the testis in stages I and II, They were observed for the period from 1979 to 1989. By introducing in 1985 the modified techniąue of extraperitoneal lymphadenectomy in 27 patients with stages I and IIA, reduction of periodical eiaculation disturbances was achieved from 76.6% to 48.1%, and of persistance of the complication from 33.3% to 0.0%. No deterioration of treatment results was found in this group. The lower number of recurrences (9—20%), and of deaths (2—4.5%) observed in a group of 44 patients treated over the years 1935—1989, in Comparison to a group of patients operated in the years 1978—1984 is the result of more effective chemotherapy with the use of cisplatin (PVB and VAB-6) introduced since 1982.
