summary

Thousand six hundred seven patients were operated due to nephrolithiasis at the Depar­tment of Urology of Voivodeship Hospital in Warsaw between 1962 and 1975. In 2 patients co-existance of lithiasis with renal tumors was found during surgery. In both patients preope-rative physical and radiological examinations did not suggest tumor or metastases.
Co-existance of nephrolithiasis with renal tumor is very rare (in author's materiał 0-12%). Lumbotomy enables detailed examination of the kidney and early diagnosis of asymptomatic renal tumor.
