summary

The authors present two cases of ureter situated behind the inferior caval vein. One patient was a man aged 40 years, the other one was a 13-year-old boy. Tre­atment was surgical, in the first case the stenosed part of the ureter was resected, the remaining part of the ureter was shifted and anastomosed to the pelvis. In the sećond case the dilated pelvis was incised, the position of the ureter was cor-rected and the borders of the incised pelvis were sutured. Late results were good. The causes of this developmental anomaly, its diagnosis and methods of surgical treatment are discussed.
