summary

In the years from 1976 to September 1984 the authors treated 94 patients for renal carcinoma, who accounted for 8.4% of patients treated for malignant tu­mours of the genitourinary organs.
Eighty-two patients were treated surgically, in 64 cases radical nephrectomy was performed connected with removal of lymph vessels and lymph nodes in the vicinity of great vesseils, and adrenals. In 9 cases a tumour plug was removed from the inferior caval vein, dn 7 cases the infiltrated wall of this vein was ex-cised, and in 2 patients the inferior caval vein was ligated ant cut.
In the postoperative period 3 patients died, and after a follow-up from 3 months to 8 years 40 patients (64.5%) are alive out of 63 patients on whom Infor­mation was available.
The authors believe radical nephrectoimy is the most advantageous and ra-tional method treatment of malignant renal tumours.
