summary

The first publication in Polish urological journals devoted to aplication of radiofre±uency
wave and mocrowave methods in BPH treatment. The procedure^ effect was discussed with
respect to types of wavegenerating and wave properties.
Tests were carried on with 196 patients with 3-month follow-ups and with 111 patients
with 6-month follow-ups.
Reduction of subjective ailments was achieved with 83% and 79% of patients, respectively,
and objective improvement in test results was noted for 77% and 72% of patients. After the
procedure, out of a group of 24 patients with urine retention, 60% stopped to re±uire
catheterization. No major complication were observed after the procedure.
