summary

The authors report 6 cases of testicular torsion treated surgically in the years 1967—1976 at the Urology Department, Institute of Surgery, Medical Academy in Lublin. In 3 patients coming 2 to 19 days after appearance of torsion signs the necrotic testicles had to be removed. In the remaining cases it was possible to save the testicles, including 1 patient in whome the operation was performed on the 3rd day after torsion development. The authors stress the possibility of trials of saving the testicle even in cases of torsion lasting several days, if complete occlusion of blood yessels failed to deyelop.
